What is NFC?

A practical explanation of optional tap-to-open sharing.

NFC stands for Near Field Communication. It enables very short-range wireless interaction; you may already know it from contactless payments.

TheLifeStyleKey uses NFC as one optional way to open a Key. A compatible card or tag holds the Key link, and a compatible phone can offer to open that link in its browser. No TheLifeStyleKey app is required to view a Key. QR codes and direct links remain alternatives.

NFC availability and behavior depends on the phone or device, and where you tap varies by device. Test your setup and keep a QR code or direct link available as a backup.

NFC does not give a visitor access to anything beyond the Key link and content presented. It does not identify who tapped or make the resulting link more private than the same link shared another way.
